Prayer Guide
At The Oaks Community Church, prayer isn’t something we add on — it’s the foundation of everything we do.
This prayer guide is an invitation to join us as we seek the Lord together. Inside, you’ll find specific ways to pray for our church plant, our partner churches, our launch team, our community, and the people God has placed in our care.
We believe God is actively at work — answering prayers, opening doors, and shaping our church for His purposes. Whether you’re part of The Oaks family, a supporting church, or simply someone who wants to pray with us, we are grateful you’re here.
As you pray, we invite you to ask the Lord how He might lead you to take your next “yes” with Jesus.

Prayer Prompts and Ways to Pray
1) Pray for our Partner Churches
· Perkinsville Church in Boone, NC is our sending church
Pray for Pastor Seth and Stacie, and the entire Perkinsville church family!
Pray the LORD abundantly blesses Perkinsville’s generosity and belief in what God is doing in Boone and beyond è especially through The Oaks Community Church.
Mike is part time Mission Pastor for Perkinsville Church and is in Boone every Wednesday, and at least 2 Sunday mornings/month.
Pray Mike is a blessing to ‘The Perk’ and helps people put their next “YES” on the table!
Pray the Lord assembles the right Launch Team from The Perk to move to the Burlington area and help launch The Oaks!
The rest of Mike’s time is spent ‘doing vision,’ Bible/Study/Sermon prep, and raise funds.
· Westside Fellowship is a supporting partner church
Pray for Pastor Jacob and Elizabeth, and the entire Westside church family!
Pray the LORD abundantly blesses Westside’s generosity and belief in what God is doing in and through the Oaks Community Church.
· Mercy Hill Collaborative Churches (MHC)
‘The Perk’ is part of The Mercy Hill Collaborative, an organization helping plant The Oaks!
Mike is trying to schedule meetings with each pastor of the MHC churches to ask for prayer, funds, and Launch Team members to be a part of The Oaks church plant. Ask the Lord to open doors to MHC churches that will connect with our vision and values.
· Hope Church, Burlington is part of the Mercy Hill Collaborative too!
Pray for Pastor Tadd and his wife Becki, and the entire Hope Church family.
· Pray the Lord leads other local churches to become supporting partner churches!
2) Pray for Our Launch Team
Ask Him to unite like-minded discipleRs perfectly SHAPED by Him to serve on The Oaks Launch Team!
Pray for the people who have already said YES to be on the Launch Team of The Oaks!
Pray Boone & Burlington folks are united as we do church both separately and together til May.
Pray for people praying about putting their ‘YES’ on the table’ to something so different and risky!
The Oaks meets every Sunday evening at 5:00 pm in the Holly Hill Mall Business Center
in Burlington to worship and seek the Lord, study the Bible, and do church together!
Ask the Lord bless Holly Hill Mall for its Kingdom minded generosity!
Pray we equip/empower the Launch Team to be SENT to actively live out God's mission, God’s way!
Eph 4:11-12 - And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
Pray we embed Biblical values into the DNA of The Oaks Culture
We want to be an answer to Jesus’ prayer in John 17:20-23, instead of the reason for it!
Join Jesus in praying for us, “…that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them even as You loved Me.” John 17:23
The Oaks exists so that the lost are saved, the saved are sent, and the Church is built!
Ask the Lord to plant 100 churches in 10 nations in 10 years via The Oaks.
The Oaks aims to live out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission
by equipping every generation to reach every generation of every nation!
We love God, love our neighbors, and love sending DiscipleRs!
Ask the Lord to help us love our community deeply.
Ask the Lord to help us plan and carry out ‘outreach’ strategies
Pray for the Launch Team as we grow and serve
Launch Team Needs
Elders - wise, mature men that bring stability and meet qualifications of 1 Tim 3:1-7.
Executive Pastor - volunteer or part time that provides the ‘HOW’ we will do what we do
Prayer Director - ensure we constantly seek to deepen The Oaks prayer culture.
Malking DiscipleR Director - ensure we make disciples that make disciples that fulfill The Oaks vision and mission
Children Director & Workers - ensure we help families make disciples in their homes
Community Groups Director – help small groups fulfill The Oaks vision and mission
Community Engagement Director - help us find ways to love our neighbors well as we fulfill The Oaks vision and mission
Worship Team Director & Workers - to help us worship well when we gather
Website/Social Media Director - help The Oaks use technology to fulfill vision and mission
Hospitality Director & Workers - to ensure every guest that visits The Oaks feels valued, accepted, and loved, so that they allow us to connect with them, so that we can help them take their next ‘Yes’ with Jesus
Youth Director and Workers - to help us make and send discipers of the next Gen.
Advisory Board - that is wise in helping us accomplish our mission (if we have no elders).
3) Ask the Lord to Clarify Our Target Location and Provide Meeting Space In/Near It
Even though we have a place to meet weekly (YEAH!), continue to pray the Lord provides a permanent location along I 85/40 corridor from Stoney Creek to Burlington.
Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
4) So The Oaks accomplishes what He’s called us to do, ask Him to provide $100k by Dec 31, 2025 with joyful and sacrificial gifts from His people, (or however He chooses).
Praise the Lord for folks that have already given to The Oaks!
($30,000 has been given by our launch team via regular tithes and offerings!)
2 Cor 9:7 - Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Ask the Lord to provide $100,000 by Dec. 31, 2025 and $250,000 by our Aug. 16, 2026 launch service.
The Perk and MHC have pledged to give $55k in May, 2026.
Ask the Lord to provide the rest using a bunch of folks that believe enough in the vision/mission of The Oaks to joyfully and sacrificially say ‘Yes’ to the Lord’s leading to invest in what God is doing through The Oaks!
2 Cor 8:2 - for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.
Like: 100 $1,000 gifts $100/mon for 10 mon., one-time gift, etc.
or the sacrificial gifts from a lot of widows!
Mark 12:42-44 - And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. 43And He called His disciples to Him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.” WOW!
God’s work, done God’s way, will never lack God’s supply.
Eph 3:20-21 - Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
